Airtel has once again waged a war against Jio. The Bharti Mittal-led telecom company has revised its Rs 399 plan to give a tough fight to its one of the closest rivals-Jio. Airtel's revised plan now competes directly with Jio's existing Rs 399 plan.
So what is new with the Airtel's revised plan? The company now offers longer validity to its prepaid users with this plan. Users subscribing to this plan will get unlimited local, STD and roaming calls along with 1GB 3G/4G data per day and 100 SMS per days for 84 days. The old validity period of the plan was for 70 days only. This means users will now get 1GB 3G/4G data per day in total. Not just this, Airtel has also refreshed the Rs 149 plan to offer 1GB data and unlimited calls for 28 days.
Airtel's Rs 399 plan now locks horns with Jio's Rs 399 plan. Both offer the same benefit for same validity period. For a quick recap, Jio offers 1GB 4G data per day along with unlimited calls, 100SMS per day and access to Jio apps for 84 days. The total data value is of 84GB.
While both the operators offer more or less the same benefits, Jio users get an extra benefit. In case of Airtel, user will attract charges if he/she exceeds the per day data limit. This is not the case with Jio. Jio users can continue using the internet, however, at a reduced speed of 64kbps but it will work with no extra charges involved.
AIRTEL RS 149 PLAN:
Airtel's Rs 149 plan offers unlimited calls and 100 SMSes per day. However, the plan offer sonly 1GB data for the entire 28 days validity period. The plan again here loses a score from Jio. Jio at Rs 149 offers 1GB data per day for 28 days along with other similar benefits.
Reportedly, the plan is available only in select Airtel circles. The plan previously offered unlimited Airtel to Airtel voice calls and 1GB 4G/3G data. It now offers unlimited voice calls to any network on roaming
